Deborah Brown

Chief Executive Officer

Deborah Brown, DMD, MHA, FACHE

Brown joined MCDC as Chief Executive Officer in August of 2018 with an extensive executive background in oral health, non-profit management, and Medicaid as well as Medicare health insurance programs. Brown earned her Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Dental
Medicine degrees from Rutgers University School of Medicine, as well as a Masters of Healthcare Administration from Seton Hall University. She is board certified in Healthcare Administration with the American College of Healthcare Executives and
in Healthcare Compliance with the Compliance Certification Board. In addition, she is a member of the Medicaid Medicare CHIP Services Dental Association. She served as Senior Director for Dental Services for WellCare Health Plans, company that
specializes exclusively in providing government sponsored managed care services. Brown served as the Chief Dental Officer for Dental Health Associates in Phillipsburg, NJ from 2012 to 2016, and from 2008 to 2012, was Dental Director of the Ocean
Health Initiatives, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), in Lakewood, NJ.


Curtis Swogger

Chief Operations Officer

Curtis Swogger

Curt joined MCDC as Chief Operations Officer in February of 2019 with an extensive background in both privately held and private equity backed dental organizations. With over 20 years of proven leadership in multi-unit management, Curt has served these organizations in all levels of management including Regional Manager, Director of Operations and COO. He is a servant leader who is passionate about developing high performance teams while serving our most vulnerable population.

Curt and his wife have been married for over 20 years. They have three children, two dogs and a cat. When he is not serving the "underserved" communities, you can find him and the family touring overseas or relaxing at home enjoying each other’s company.  He is a die-hard fan and supporter of Team USA, both Men's and Women's World Cup Teams.


James Strohschein

Chief Dental Officer

James Strohschein, DDS

Dr. Strohschein joined MCDC in February of 2019. A Michigan native, his undergraduate work was done at Michigan State University, and he earned his DDS from of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1996. Public health dentistry has been his passion and where he has spent his entire career.

Dr. Strohschein has provided dental services in New Mexico to the Navajo Nation as a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service, as well as urban Native Americans and surrounding Pueblos in Albuquerque. He also served as a combined clinical/educator at the University of New Mexico where he held an Assistant Professor faculty position in the Department of Surgery within the Division of Dental Services. He formed the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency Program, in which he served as Acting Director. He then transitioned into the Department of Family and Community Medicine, wherein he strove to provide clinical outreach dental services to the most underserved communities.

Dr. Strohschein addressed dental provider shortages in the state by developing the UNM Pre-Dental Society. He mentored students from all colleges and universities and collaborated to establish pipelines to many dental programs, thereby increasing the number of students from New Mexico accepted into dental schools throughout the country.

Dr. Strohschein went on to serve as Dental Director, faculty member and clinician at the Oregon Health & Science University’s Russell Street Dental Clinic in Portland, Oregon. There he supervised fourth-year dental students and provided clinical care to medically compromised and indigent populations under the academic umbrella of OHSU. He served as dental director for a primary dental care non-profit organization for the Medicaid population in the state of Oregon.

He is looking forward to advancing the delivery of dental services to some of the most vulnerable populations in the state of Michigan. He plans to spearhead initiatives that will continue to address access to care issues by networking with stakeholders and partners at all levels of government.


Keith Sherwood

Chief Financial Officer

Keith Sherwood, M.B.A

Keith joined the My Community Dental Centers (MCDC) executive leadership team as the Chief Financial Officer in 2007. In this role he is able to combine his 28 years of diverse finance experience to contribute to the expansion of My Community Dental Centers.
Keith completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Master’s Degree in Finance from Walsh College in Troy, Michigan. After a brief time in the manufacturing business, Keith joined the ranks of the not-for-profit health insurance industry,
where he worked for almost 20 years. Keith worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan and Priority Health before joining Community Care Plan (CCP) in 2001 as Executive Director. It was at Community Care Plan that Keith was first exposed
to the rewards of working with the Medicaid population. Under his direction, CCP nearly doubled its membership and revenue, and was one of the most profitable Medicaid-only health plans in the State of Michigan. CCP also received the highly coveted
Benchmark award from the State of Michigan. After assisting with the sale and transition of CCP to a national insurance company in 2004, Keith became director of a multi-specialty health center serving the needs of the Medicaid and uninsured population.
Under his direction, the operating results improved by $1 million by implementing LEAN process improvement strategies and open access scheduling, and by improving financial reporting tools. The highlight of this time, however, was the eye-opening
experience of working directly in a setting that provides health care to the most vulnerable members of society. Keith has served on the Board of Directors of the West Michigan Consortium and Kent Health Plan. He has also been a member of the
Health Communities Access program (HCAP) of Kent County, Health Financial Management Association, Medical Group Management Association, National Management Association, and the Walsh College Association.


Kimberly Singh

Chief of Community and Governmental Affairs

Kimberly Singh, M.A., C.H.E.S.

Kimberly Singh, M.A., C.H.E.S. joined My Community Dental Centers in May of 2012 and is currently the Interim Chief Operations Officer and Director of Community and Government Affairs. In this position she oversees the day-to-day operations of the dental
centers and works to enhance relationships between MCDC, current and future community partners, and the State of Michigan. Ms. Singh has previously served as the Health Officer for the Mid-Michigan District Health Department, which includes the
counties of Clinton, Gratiot, and Montcalm. She holds a Master’s Degree in Health Education and Health Science from Ball State University, a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Health Education from Central Michigan University, and is
a Certified Health Education Specialist. She has over 25 years of leadership experience in local public health. Ms. Singh is a graduate of the Michigan Public Health Leadership Institute as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s
National Leadership Institute. In 2002, she received the Michigan Dental Associations Public Service Award. In 2006, she received the Michigan Department of Community Health Special Director’s award and in 2011 the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce
Spirit of Collaboration Award.


Lori McMurry

Clinical Director

Lori McMurry, DDS

Dr. Lori McMurry joined My Community Dental Centers (MCDC) as a general dentist in 2010. Her 30 years in clinical dentistry brings not only experience in her field but also allows her to share her passion in public health dentistry through training and
coaching MCDC dentists. She has been assisting the administrative team since 2012 providing insight on dental supplies, clinical notes, and volunteering for projects including scheduling, center visits and quality control. Dr. McMurry began her
career in the dental field as a dental assistant in 1977. She pursued her degree in Dental Hygiene in 1984 from Northern Arizona University, and then graduated from the University of Detroit School of Dentistry in 1988. She had a private practice
in Phoenix and worked as an associate in Georgia before moving to Traverse City, Michigan in 2010. She has done extensive training in oral surgery, cosmetic dentistry and practice management. Her thirty years of commitment to her profession has
contributed to her successful building of relationships with the doctors and staff at the center level. Dr. McMurry has been married for 33 years, has two adult daughters and 3 dogs. She and her husband Joe are involved in their local church in
marriage ministry, homebound and hospital patient visits and their Haiti ministry. The changes in the seasons provide them with plenty to do outdoors in Traverse City. They also enjoy traveling to National Parks here in the US, Europe, and Asia.


Larry Keys

Chief Information Officer

Larry Keys

Larry joined My Community Dental Centers (MCDC) in 2010, bringing with him 30 plus years of Information Systems experience to support the MCDC Mission and Vision. He has held many leadership roles supporting the IS requirements of automotive manufacturing,
engineering, financial, and supply chain for General Motors and non-profit organizations like Focus: HOPE, a nationally recognized civil and human rights organization in Detroit Michigan.


Rob Kowalski

Director of Human Resources

Rob Kowalski, M.B.A.

Rob joined My Community Dental Centers during September of 2014 in a desire to become associated with a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the underserved community. He is currently the Director of Human Resources. In this position he works
with the HR team to provide excellent internal customer support in all facets of human resources. Rob has a variety of experience having worked almost 30 years in the consulting, staffing, marketing, leasing, and banking industries. He has an
MBA in Marketing from Wayne State University and a BA in Finance from Michigan State University.


Diana Bittner

Director of Compliance/In-House Counsel

Diana Bittner, Esq.

Diana joined My Community Dental Centers (MCDC) in 2017 as the Director of Compliance and In-House Counsel. In these roles, she is responsible for ensuring MCDC is compliant with federal and state regulations, internal policies and procedures, and ethical
codes. She also coordinates or handles legal matters on behalf of the organization. Diana received her B.A. (Political Science) and J.D. (Law) degrees from the University of Toledo, Ohio. After graduation from law school, Diana operated her own
general law practice for 19 years. She has coordinated training and continuing education seminars, volunteered for various committees and activities in service to the community, and worked as a certified mediator and Guardian ad Litem. She has
a commitment to and understanding of the needs of the underserved. For the past 17 years prior to joining MCDC, Diana also was an adjunct faculty member at Owens Community College in Toledo. Over the years, she taught English, Career Assessment,
and Mathematics; worked in new student orientation and advising; and served as a small-group and one-on-one tutor.
